12-year-old girl transported back to Tampa Bay after fatal Mexico accident

12-year-old Jasmin Cervantes-Garcia returned to Tampa Bay, Florida from Mexico after she was involved in a deadly car accident. Her family surrounded her on the tarmac of the Tampa Internation Airport after waiting on her return for three weeks.

In June, Jasmin was on vacation in Mexico with her parents and grandparents. They were all traveling to Texas for a family event when their vehicle collided with a passenger bus. Jasmin was the only one to survive the accident.

A miz of brothers, cousins, and other family members were all waiting for her return at the airport. She was taken off the plane in a stretcher and will be transported to John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.

Her condition has not improved much since the accident. She is still not able to speak, but she can open her eyes. Once she was deemed stable enough, her family wanted her home.

The doctors at John Hopkins will start from scratch with treating and diagnosing her.

Jose Cervantes, her older brother, described Jasmin as energetic and bubbly. She loves sports and loves to be on TikTok.

Their family is continuing to fundraise for medical expenses, transportation, and her siblings.
