Authorities responded to a suspected DUI incident after a car drove off the road and landed on the beach. The 19-year-old man was traveling at a high speed when he lost control of the vehicle between beach towers 4 and 5. The vehicle collided with a guardrail and rolled onto the beach.
First responders found the car in a rocky embankment and had to free three of the teens from the car. They were taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital with a range of trauma.
The young driver left the accident with minor injuries, and it is still unclear whether alcohol played a factor. He will be facing criminal charges following the incident.
The only teen that has been identified is Joshua Manzanares, 19. Manzanares and another passenger were ejected from the vehicle after the driver lost control. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the other deceased passenger has not been released.
