Semi Hits SUV Carrying 25 Passengers Leaving at Least 13 Dead in El Centro, California

Authorities responded to a tragic car accident involving a semi truck and an SUV last year, but they did not expect to find what they did. The semi was carrying two empty trailers when it had a broadside collision with an SUV carrying 25 passengers and it sent some of the passengers airborne. 

The SUV passengers, 13 of them would tragically lose their lives and six others would be injured and rushed to medical aid. The age range of the 13 that passed away was between 20 to 55, and of those injured the age range was from 15 to 53. Some of the victims getting medical aid were more serious than others and needed to be transferred to a more advanced hospital.

From the accident, the Homeland Security Department has sent a team to conduct a human smuggling investigation and no other details are available at this time.
