In Minquadale, Delaware a trailer truck crashed into a fire truck as they were stopped near Landers Lane.
The firetruck was responding to a separate single-car crash on I-295 around 7 p.m. when the truck got hit. Authorities say the collision caused the truck to flip onto its side on the roadway.
According to the Minquadale fire department, it took 8 minutes to get the three firefighters evacuated after being trapped inside the fire engine.
The firefighters were immediately taken to Christiana Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. I-295 had lanes blocked off for over 3 hours causing extreme backups on the interstate.
Prior to the crash, the fire truck was stopped responding to a separate crash when getting hit. Police are still investigating the cause of the trailer truck colliding into the fire engine.
