Authorities are investigating a fatal accident that occurred in Greenville, Illinois the afternoon of April 16th. A 23-year-old woman was killed, and three others were injured after a pickup truck hit a car at the intersection of U.S. 40 and Illinois 127.
The truck was identified as Unit 1 and the car driven by the deceased woman was identified as Unit 2 in the news release.
The release stated that Unit 1 did not yield and attempted to turn left onto Illinois Route 127 going south as Unit 2 was driving through the intersection at the same time. Unit 1 struck the other vehicle head-on in the middle of the intersection.
There were two juvenile passengers in Unit 2, who were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries. The only name authorities have released is Nicholas D. Maple of Louisiana. He is 25 years old and was also riding in Unit 2. He was taken to a nearby hospital along with the others.
Unit 1 was being driven by a 16-year-old girl from Smithsboro. She was taken to an area hospital with injuries.
As of April 17th, there were no arrests or charges filed.
