The Florida Highway Patrol responded to an accident early Wednesday involving a Toyota and a school bus. First responders would arrive on scene in order to help the children on the bus.
The Toyota would collide with the back of the bus which would then send it a few hundred feet away into a retention pond. The driver was a 36-year-old man and would be pronounced dead on the scene.
Despite the loss of life the 17 students on the bus would each be seen by a EMT before they reported no injuries on the passengers of the bus.
The accident prompted a brief shut down of Highway 27 but would be opened back up after the accident was cleaned up.
