Officials responded to an accident that occurred in the middle of a street takeover in Compton on Sunday evening. The takeover occurred at the intersection of Century Blvd. and Hoover Street a little before midnight.
The Los Angeles County Sherriff Department responded to the scene and was able to determine that a man was on his way home when he drove in the middle of the takeover and collided with a red Honda. He was traveling in a Nissan and was not involved in the event.
Treyshawn Cooley stated that he was not aware of the takeover and does not remember anything after he hit the Honda.
Authorities were able to view surveillance footage and learned that the driver of the Honda ran a red light before hitting the Nissan head-on. Two women were traveling in the Honda. The passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle due to impact.
The two women were identified as 18-year-old Jennyfer Flores and 20-year-old Michellie Gonzales.
Investigators found multiple tire marks in the intersection and could not identify if the Honda was involved in the street takeover. It was reported that there were around 100 people present at the event.
No arrests have been made.
