Law enforcement officials are investigating a fatal accident that occurred in Fremont County on Tuesday.
Austin “Melvin” Richardson was traveling north on Highway 275 before his car collided with a John Deere S770 that was traveling southbound. The John Deere had dual front tires and was driven by 64-year-old James Groff.
Iowa State Patrol reported that the tires of the John Deere were wider than the southbound lane, which caused Richardson’s vehicle to hit the front left tire. The collision caused his car to skid sideways and roll multiple times.
Richardson, who was a Fremont County Sheriff Deputy, died due to the incident. He was 37 years old.
Iowa State Patrol District 3 confirmed the death and has stated that the investigations are ongoing.
