California Highway Patrol opened an investigation for a head-on collision that took place early Thursday morning near the Balfour Road exit. The accident was between a large commercial truck and a Toyota Corolla, and the investigation is pointing towards the Toyota being at fault.
It is important to note this highway has reported many accidents resulting in many fatalities in the past few years.
Early investigations show that the Toyota was headed east when it went into the west-bound lane coming to a collision with the large commercial truck. The driver of the Toyota would be reported dead on the scene.
The driver of the truck was uninjured in the accident.
The California Highway Patrol is looking for any witnesses of the accident and are requesting witnesses to contact them.
