Horrific gas station crash turns fatal in Georgia

Deputies responded to an accident at Al’s Exxon in Paulding County, Georgia Sunday morning. It was found that a man crashed his GMC pickup truck into a crowded gas station before shooting himself in the head.

After the crash occurred, bystanders walked up to his vehicle to see if he was okay. He then proceeded to pull out a gun and commit suicide. He was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Investigators identified him as a 30-year-old from Paulding County.

The man was traveling southbound on Ga, 101 towards 120. Authorities believe that the man purposefully drove off the roadway and into the Exxon.

The GMC plowed through a sign and collided with several vehicles parked at the station. There were several people injured after the crash, but none seem to be life-threatening.

Before the crash occurred, Sonya Gray was pumping gas when she heard a big bang and saw a pickup truck up on the back of her car. Gray only suffered some strained muscles in her neck and back.

The gas station reopened Monday, July 4th, after the incident. The sign is still damaged along with broken bricks and glass scattered around the scene.

The Paulding County Sherriff’s Office is expected to release more information later this week and is asking for anyone to contact them at 1-770-443-3047 if they have any additional information.
