Authorities responded to a fatal accident on an early morning in Houston, Texas just outside the Bush Intercontinental Airport.
On a four-way intersection near IAH a Ford F-150 was speeding and reportedly ran a red light causing a broadside collision with a Nissan which was heading south on JFK. The chaotic accident took out signs and poles nearby and stopped moving once they collided with a Ford Expedition.
After a brief investigation, The Houston Police Department determined the traffic light was operating correctly.
The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene after he was crushed by the F-150. The driver of the F-150 would be transported to the hospital with major injuries.
Some of the leading causes of accidents in Texas are drunk driving, distracted driving, and speeding. Investigators don’t think the driver of the F-150 was under the influence at this time.
Officials are still investigating and determining if an arrest needs to be made, but as of now no arrests have been made.
The HPD Vehicular Crimes Division’s Sgt. Karl Harris is urging drivers to slow down in order to keep the Houston roads safe for everyone.
