Police responded to a fatal accident involving two young children Saturday night. Authorities believe that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
The crash happened at East 138th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue in Dolton. Police determine that the female driver was speeding and under the influence when she collided with the family vehicle.
A 4-year-old girl and her 3-year-old sister were passengers in the vehicle. They were both ejected from the car after the collision.

4-year-old A’miya Nesbitt had to have surgery on her stomach, but she is recovering in the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle was the young girl’s relative and is still recovering in the hospital with minor injuries at the University of Chicago.
The driver has not been charged yet but will be when she is released from the hospital. She faces aggravated DUI and aggravated homicide charges.
