A couple that was passed out in a vehicle was approached by authorities before speeding off and causing a major accident in Spanaway, Washington. The couple was passed out in a Starbucks parking lot with their hazards and windshield wipers on. Investigators found drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle after the accident.
When the deputies approached the car to wake the individuals up, they were uncooperative and proceeded to reverse and hit a patrol car before speeding away. The deputies followed the driver and found that she had crashed at Pacific Ave. and 180th St. E.
The woman was taken into custody and the man fled the scene. The man was eventually captured by someone that kept him until authorities could get him into custody.
Both the woman and the man were taken to the hospital. The woman has not yet been released, but the man has been cleared.
After deputies ran the VIN of the car, they identified that the car had been stolen from Fredrickson in June. Additionally, there were also two small dogs in the car. One was ejected from the vehicle and picked up by a witness while the other one has not been found.
The 32-year-old man was taken to Pierce County Jail and booked for Assault in the 1st Degree, Felony Hit and Run, Vehicular Assault, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The 24-year-old woman will be charged with Assault in the 1st Degree, Felony Hit and Run, DUI, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, DUI, Eluding a Police Vehicle, and many other offenses.
